How I’m Managing My Perimenopause Symptoms Without Losing My Sanity

If you’ve ever found yourself crying in the bathroom because your jeans don’t fit, lying awake at 3am drenched in sweat, or snapping at your family for no reason at all… welcome to perimenopause.

I’m right there with you. And let me tell you—it’s WILD.

For a while, I felt like my body was betraying me. The bloating, the mood swings, the exhaustion—it was like someone had swapped out my body for a version I didn’t recognize. And for a hot minute, I thought the only options were either “suck it up” or completely lose my mind.

But here’s what I’ve learned: you don’t have to choose between suffering through your symptoms or sacrificing your sanity. There’s a middle path.

Here’s how I’m managing mine.

1. I Stopped Overcomplicating My Routine

When I first started noticing symptoms, I tried everything—supplements, diets, intense workouts, the whole shebang. And guess what? It left me more stressed and less consistent.

Now? I keep it simple. I move my body daily, but gently. Yoga, walking, strength training a couple times a week. Nothing extreme, nothing that makes me dread it. Just enough to support my energy without burning me out.

2. I Prioritize Rest Like My Life Depends On It (Because It Does)

I used to treat rest like a guilty pleasure. Now it’s a non-negotiable. If I don’t give my body downtime, my symptoms flare—end of story.

That means naps when I need them. Putting my phone away earlier. And yes, giving myself permission to skip things that don’t serve me (no is a full sentence, sis).

3. I Listen to My Body, Not “The Rules”

Diet culture will tell you to cut carbs, intermittent fast, or drink only green juices. But I’ve learned to tune into my body instead of random rules.

If I’m hungry, I eat. If coffee after noon keeps me up, I switch to herbal tea. If alcohol makes my night sweats worse, I don’t drink. No shame, no guilt—just noticing what feels good and what doesn’t.

4. I Stay Rooted in Community

Perimenopause can feel isolating, like you’re the only one going through it. But the more I’ve opened up, the more I’ve realized we’re all out here, figuring it out together.

Teaching yoga has given me the gift of holding space for women just like me—and it’s reminded me that healing feels easier when we don’t do it alone.

The Bottom Line

Managing perimenopause symptoms isn’t about being perfect or following some rigid plan. It’s about keeping your sanity by simplifying, resting, listening, and leaning into support.

So if you’re in the thick of it right now—please hear me when I say this: you are not losing your mind. Your body is asking for a new kind of care.

✨ And if you’re ready for practices that actually support you in this season, join me for my next yoga class or workshop. Together, we’ll calm your nervous system, balance your energy, and help you feel like you again.
